Sentiment Placement

I make a lot of cards that end up in the trash because I don't know where to put a sentiment. This card almost ended up in the trash, which would have been a shame because I LOVE this hydrangea. It's from the absolutely must-have-for-me Mondo Hydrangea set designed by Julie Ebersole.  (It's out of stock, but hopefully will be back soon.)

The first card (with the hello) is my final version, but the next card was my first attempt.

What do you think? The "Just Because" is ok there but it just looks like an afterthought to me. I moved it all over, but nothing looked right, but I'm not sure why.

So, I gently pulled off the Just Because and set it aside. As you can see in the top and final card, I decided to tuck a small Hello in the corner. I like it better, but since I struggle with this issue, I thought I'd ask -- where would you put a sentiment on this card?

Speaking of the card -- I added a blue reinker to a small water bottle and misted it over water color paper. It was pretty pale so I dropped some reinker and misted again with plain water. Took the panel outside and put it in the hot Texas sun and 2 minutes later it was dry!

Then I put the stamp over the parts of the panel that I thought would show variation in shade, embossed in white, die cut, and popped up with foam. Decided that it didn't need anything else.

MOOD WHEN DONE: Fine! Keeping as busy as I can. Hope you are having a good week.

I prefer the Just Because but both cards are beautiful.

J.B. it doesn't matter to me what it says [or where it says it] this is such a lovely way to color that Hydrangea! I'm so taken by the use of white embossing on the bloom, and black-stamped leaves [also my favorite leaves of all - aren't they just gorgeous irl, too?]

this is absolutely beautiful. Hydrangeas are some of my most favorite flowers! Tucking the "Hello" in next to the leaf is perfect. and I love the technique you used to get the gradation of color. I'll have to try that!

Joan, your method of "coloring" your hydrangea is wonderful! It's glorious! I much prefer your "Just Because" sentiment treatment!

Joan, this watercolouring technique worked out beautifully - I just love hydrangeas, it can be difficult to colour them subtly - I will have to try this. I love the 2nd card. I think the "just because" card doesn't work as well for me because the sentiment blends into the b/w leaves.
Glad you're staying safe, well, and busy! Jacki

Joan, I think both examples are great but actually prefer the first one. I don't have a set way of placing sentiments but prefer lower right corner area. Quitee often, I don't put a sentiment at all.

..........THUD!!! And, btw, I thought your sentiment placement on both were spot on and worked well visually. So, you're good either way! Beautifully executed design, my friend!

Both are pretty cards and my personal preference for sentiment placement is the Just Because card. As the stem of the flower shows on this card, the sentiment seems to help ‘weight’ the hydrangea. Glad you didn’t toss it!

Thank you for telling how you got the gorgeous flowers so gorgeous! When I saw the card my first thought was, nope, never happening, too hard for me...now I might could add a drop of ink into water if I had the right spray bottle!!!
