Watercolored Words

Here's the simplest of cards, perhaps one that a non stamper would love!

1. Cut up the I love you sentiment from Avery Elle Handwritten Notes (love this font!).
2. Stamped in Versamark on watercolor paper and embossed with white powder.
3.  Wet the paper with water.
4. Ran an SU bright pink marker on a block and picked up the ink with a wet paint brush and spread over the words.  Because the paper was wet, the ink just flowed.
5.  Cut with scissors -- no measuring as I did not want a "perfect" look.
6.  Adhered each word onto a dark gray card.

Happy (to Use What I Have)

I've see a lot of large sentiment stamps and I love them all.  And I've seen watercolored backgrounds and I love those too.

So I set about trying to get a large sentiment with a watercolored background without buying any new supplies.  Hmm...a Versamark pen, clear embossing powder, Distress Inks, and watercolor paper. Done!

Since this is a birthday card, I decided to watercolor a little cupcake, cut it out (look, no die) and pop up.

Adhered it all to a navy card to set it off.

Would I have preferred a new stamp set?  Absolutely.  In fact, an image of happy would look better. But this works and my handwriting is free.  Love free!  I'll practice a more because I think I can get an even better look if I write faster and looser.  Should be fun.

Happy Thoughts

Love this sentiment, from Clear and Simple Stamps Build a Flower.   Everyone needs happy thoughts and the recipient of this card could use a lift.

I needed a lot of happy thoughts during the years of taking care of my Mom and I haven't forgotten the folks who sent me (or my Mom) cards to lift our spirits.

Supplies:

Stamps:  Clear and Simple Stamps Build A Flower (sentiment) and Butterfly Garden.  Stampin Up Tape It.
Ink:  Hero Arts Tide Pool and Stampin Up lilac marker (outlined the butterflies with the marker) and Ranger Archival Black
Cardstock:  Stampin Up Pool Party and Neenah Solar White
Other:  Gold Marker, Micron Black pen, adhesive, paper trimmer, President's Day so I had time to stamp

Stolen!

Call the cops.  Mike stole my heart!

Is this little fox raccoon from Newton's Nook Design adorable?   It's in a set called Sweetheart Tails.
And the hearts are all glittery.

Hot!

Not every Valentine needs a big heart or even the word love.  This glossy hot pepper from Newton's Nook Designs works quite well for this holiday.  The pepper is all glossied up with Ranger's Glossy Accents -- two coats.

How I Made This Card:

1.  Stamped chili pepper on white card stock with Memento Tuxedo ink.
2.  Colored with Copic Markers and cut out the pepper.
3.  Ditto with the heart.
4.  Cut and scored a white card and started playing with the chili pepper.  Decided it was all too white.
5.  Debated what to do with a colored cut out chili pepper and cooked dinner.
6.  Decided to just play around and see what happens.  Pulled out various card stocks and decided that kraft was the perfect backdrop for the orangey red pepper.
7.  Covered pepper with Glossy Accents and set aside to dry.
8.  Placed the pepper on the kraft card to see where to stamp the sentiment.  Stamped and adhered pepper and heart to form a tight little triangle.
9.  Decided the kraft card wasn't working -- kraft needs white -- and trimmed to get a kraft layer, ran a white ink pad around the sides and adhered to a bright Holly Memory Box note card.
