Love Halloween, but shy away from buying any Halloween specific sets because I won't get enough use out of most of them. For this card, I used a set of house stamps drawn by Claudine Hellmuth and watercolored in traditional Halloween colors.
Paint, dry, paint, dry, repeat many times! The Gansai Tambi watercolors are my favorite -- I can get rich color, which is hard with watercolor. I've linked to Ellen Hutson's shop but you can google and find them in many shops.
Used an alphabet stamp for the sentiment (stamped once in black and once, slightly off set in white), and added some dots for "eyes."
Supplies:
- Creative Layers Clear Dwelling stamp set by Claudine Hellmuth for Ranger (retired) and Lawn Fawn Violet's ABC's.
- Gansai Tambi watercolors
- Micron Black pen
- Black cord and purple flat pearl
- Water
- Paintbrush
- Paper towel
- Watercolor paper (this is Fabriano)
- Memories Unicorn White pigment ink
- Sizzix circle die
- Ranger Distress ink (sponged the circle)
- Dark Yellow/Orange cardstock
- A2 white card
- Black Prismacolor pencil
- Adhesives

what a fun card, Joan! i love halloween cards and always make a bunch to send to friends and family!!
This is ADORABLE, Joan! Super, super cute. I have a ton of Halloween stamps, including some that are retired that I know I won't use again. Let me know if you're interested -- surely you won't shy away from being gifted (as opposed to buying) Halloween specific stamps. :)
Really fun! I love the colors and your watercoloring!
Love this! Love, love, LOVE it! I know it's an overused word, but I mean it. The Halloween colors are fabulous on these super cute houses. Your watercoloring is always top notch, Joan!
Whenever I read 'retired' in your product description, I wonder if these are your returned supplies... it must be just like re-visiting an old friend ... with fabulous results, I might add.
=]
Yes, these houses were in the returned pile. I absolutely love them. However, I tore them taking them off the MISTI. ARGH
This is perfect for a Halloween card--love the vibrancy of your colors too! Hmmmm. . . Do I need more watercolors? ;-)
You sure caught on to water coloring! This is so fabulous -- all those wonderful [bright!] colors together!!
I don't "do" Halloween, so I don't have any stamps either (well, just one after this week). But wow, now I know a work-around I can fall back on if it's necessary for some challenge. Joan, this is just gorgeous!!
Said it on facebook and had to come see it BIG now too. Love the color combos you picked...that's where I'm challenged...oh, and painting like that too! :) Its awesome!
What a wonderful, colorful card!
Your painting is so vibrant and I love little houses in a row; yours look wonderful. I like the shadow behind the letters here too. Lots of awesomeness!
I love this card! The bright Halloween colors are perfect. You could have drawn those houses yourself, you know. I enjoy making Halloween cards more than Christmas cards. If you need someone to send a Halloween card to, let me know and I will send along my address.
I just love this card. Anything with bright colors makes me so happy. Thanks for sharing.
