Cards and an Update

Did something I never do - bought patterned paper. I saw this Christmas Traditions collection, complete with foiled sheets, at Spellbinders and bought it (and then it went on sale!).

Trimmed a sheet by hand to form a tree and, after masking off sections with post it tape, ink blended the colors. Added a foiled sentiment from Spellbinders Glitter Wishes Hot Foil sentiments and another Christmas card for 2022 is done.

fun card made with the envelope die from Spellbinders Parcel & Post Mailbox die collection. Heart is from Parcel & Post Heart Decorations. Sentiment from a Glimmer Hot Foil sentiment set that I think is no longer available.

MOOD WHEN DONE: Happy!

Husband's second surgery was a success. He went in very weak. I was unable to leave him home alone. After he got home from the surgery and came out of the anesthesia, he was a changed man. Completely back to himself. Yes, he is still underweight and doesn't have a lot of stamina, but he is walking unaided, up most of the day, and really just back to being himself. He should recover just fine - after eating some of my Brownie Cheesecake and enchiladas!

Got a few questions on what was wrong. He had infected kidney stones, one of which was huge and had embedded itself into the side of his kidney and near a cyst. The infection had spread to his blood stream, which is dangerous. Lots of explanations from the doctor, most of which I didn't understand, but it appears to be resolved. I cannot express how relieved I am. Thanks for your comments here and on IG. They mattered.

I'm glad he is feeling better! A friend recently had kidney stones, although not as severe, but still he was pretty miserable.
Your cards are so remarkable! (I was trying to think of a different adjective). The way you ink blended that plain piece of paper blows my mind.

I'm so glad your husband is on the mend. That's was a very scary diagnosis. Although I'm sure you've shown that colour wheel before it is the first time I'd paid enough attention. Can you tell me where you go it? Liz

Liz - I got the color wheel on amazon. don't know the exact details.

So glad to hear about your husband's successful surgery and transformation! My elderly brother (87) had kidney stones last fall and was pretty uncomfortable but nothing like that Mike suffered. Your mini envelope card is so darn cute, although I doubt I would be able to achieve your perfection. You do geometric arrangements so well. On another note, I used alcohol to clean a Happy Birthday stamp where goo had accumulated in the "B". It came right off with a little help from an old toothbrush. Thanks for that earlier tip to Susan R.

Oh, gosh your Christmas card is so pretty! I love the colors. It has some real mid-century flair to it. Cute little envelopes with all those wonderful colors on your second card. Love your style, Joan. It's super good news about Mike's recovery after the second surgery. A load off your mind and his! Thank you for the update.

Dear Joan: Your posts are always something I go to immediately. Your two cards today are perfection. I am very happy to hear that your hubby (and you!) are through this ordeal.
