What's Going On

Figured I'd give a little update on what's going (and not going) on in my life:
  • We have a contract on the sale of our house and are scheduled to go to settlement at the end of August.
  • Bought a quart of milk and checked the expiration date. Realized that we will be in Texas by the time the milk expires. Teared up in the grocery store.
  • Going to many goodbye lunches and dinners. As I leave, I wonder if or when I'll see these friends again.
  • Realize once again how much I miss stamping. Without my craft supplies, I'm half lost. Mike agrees!
  • We spend a LOT of time looking online at houses in Dallas. There's a huge variety in both cost and style. Gorgeous options. Have a realtor lined up. This is fun.
  • Excited to be living near our son, and Mike's brother and his family. That's the prize I'm staring at.
  • With all this time on my hands, I thought I'd be reading and writing like crazy. Found that I cannot concentrate longer than a few pages and my mind is pretty much a blank when it comes to writing.
And that's it!!

Hope your summer is a good one.

Hi Joan! We adopted a new philosophy when we moved from our old house to another one. We now look forward to "making new memories." This works most of the time. Miss your cards and can't wait for some new ones!

It’s great to hear what’s happening. Congrats on your speedy house sale! Fantastic. Moving is bittersweet at best, and stressful. Once you get settled in TX it will be much better. Being near family will be wonderful.
Take care and I hope you find the perfect new home in Dallas. Best of luck and blessings to you always.

It's good to hear from you, Joan. These things take time and emotions get all mixed up. The happy outweighs the sad, I hope. Enjoy the process and check in here when you can. There's lots to be excited about!

The bad about moving...leaving the familiar, packing and sorting. The good about moving...a whole new adventure, organizing from a blank slate and being nearer to family. Enjoy the adventure.

I TOTALLY understand where you are coming from. We were relocated in January with my hubby's company. We had been in Michigan for 11 years and made many friends. Moving to North Carolina was a culture shock for sure, but we are adjusting well and frankly I don't miss the cold weather AT ALL. We are making friends and getting into a new routine. I know that you will do just fine, especially moving closer to your son!

It's so scary to give up all we know & embark on a new adventure as we get older. My husband retired 20 yes ago & wanted to move back to NE to be near HIS family as we had spent 30 yrs close to mine. ( I had been to NE 3 times & left all my friends & family!) I made up my mind to get involved in our area & make new friends & love it here now. I wouldn't move back ever. I have kept in touch with all our friends by phone, email, (& cards, of course!), & gone to visit Avery few yrs. Enjoy your new adventures!!

These same thoughts about moving to Texas entered my mind as I prepared to make the move. I've been in South Texas for 45 years and have loved every minute of it. Best wishes to y'all!
