Cactus!

I really want some cactus stamps (refuse to use the word cacti -- just hate the way it sounds!).  But, since no one sent me free cactus stamps, and I figured I wouldn't use them a lot, I just drew a few.  There are some drawing/scale issues here, but it was fun!!!

Originally, the pots were floating magically above the blue tablecloth!   So I did what I usually do, which was walk away and get a little sulky.  When I came back, I fiddled.  Adding more tablecloth and shading  or whatever. Then I was happy even.

I so wanted to use the "Hope It Tickles" sentiment from Waltzingmouse Funky Feathers, but it didn't fit, even though this is an A6 card.  Next time! So I substituted another sentiment from that set.

Supplies:

  • Watercolor paper
  • Water
  • Paper towels
  • Paintbrushes
  • Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolor paints
  • Purple note card (flat) from Paper Source
  • Cream cardstock, cut and scored to A2
  • adhesive
  • Liquid Frisket
  • Pencil
  • Micron black pen
  • Waltzingmouse Funky Feathers
  • Ranger Archival Black ink
  • Adhesive
  • Patience

MOOD WHEN DONE = A for Effort

Nice card! Who needs stamps when you can draw like that? Your drawing and painting are amazing.

There you go being all artistic again! "Hope it tickles" would have been great with this. Love the pretty blue tablecloth and your watercoloring. This is just so cool!

Your card is just gorgeous, Joan! Your cactus garden is lovely. {I have also been dreaming of cactus stamps. My parents live in Arizona. Until this moment, I've never thought about drawing them!} Your shading and shadows are wonderful. The watercolor background is perfect ~ the colors and texture of the desert! "Hope it tickles" is the perfect sentiment for your next cactus creation, on the front or inside. Thank you for inspiring me to try a cactus creation of my own! Happy holiday weekend! ♡

Oh wow, Joan - that looks brilliant! Well done you, I am still too chicken to try drawing, even doodling isn't easy. Quite apart from the cacti, I LOVE your yellow background, and the masked dots in the tablecloth.

Joan, you are doing great with the drawings on your cards! So jealous. I cannot draw anything, even my circles are wonky ;)

I thought those were stamped! It's funny how I see simple images in a stamp set and have to have it, even though I probably could have drawn them myself. I think you did a wonderful job with the cacti! Love the coloring, too.
